人物经历
1983年,彭笑刚考入
吉林大学化学系高分子化学专业。
1987年,本科毕业获得学士学位,之后在吉林大学化学系,就读物理化学专业硕士研究生,师从
李铁津教授和
沈家骢院士。
1990年,硕士研究生毕业后继续师从李铁津教授和沈家骢院士,攻读博士学位。
1992年,获得吉林大学化学系物理化学专业博士学位。
1994年,前往美国
加州大学伯克利分校,师从Alivisatos教授进行博士后研究工作(至1996年)。
1996年,进入加州大学劳伦斯伯克利国家实验室工作(至1999年)。
1999年,进入美国
阿肯色大学化学和生物化学系任教,先后担任助理教授(1999年-2003年)、副教授(2003年-2005年)、教授、查尔斯-克丽蒂侠露化学讲座教授(2005年-2009年)。
2009年,辞去阿肯色大学教职,全职加盟
浙江大学化学系,担任教授、博士生导师。同年年底以彭笑刚的专利转化成果为核心创建的杭州纳晶科技有限公司成立并担任董事长职务,获得
风险投资5300万元。
2011年2月10日,专业信息供应商汤森路透公司(Thomson Reuters)发布了依据过去10年中所发表研究论文的
影响因子而确定的全球顶尖一百名化学家榜单(TOP 100 CHEMISTS, 2000-2010),彭笑刚名列第8,在这一百位入选化学家中,彭笑刚是唯一一位在中国国内全职任教的学者。

科研成就
2001年以来,彭笑刚发展了在学术界和工业界广为采用的
量子点合成化学,不仅引领了国际学术界相关领域的研究,而且奠定了正在快速产业化的
量子点电视的化学基础。
截至2018年,彭笑刚在《
Nature》,《Nature Materials》,《 J. Am. Chem. Soc.》,《Nano Lett.》,《 Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 》等国际刊物上发表高水平研究论文100余篇,被引用超过10000余次,其中论文“Shape control of CdSe nanocrystals: from dots to rods and back” 在《Nature》发表后,被引用超过3000余次。

人才培养
2009年彭笑刚回国后开始集中精力撰写《物理化学讲义》本科生教程,并担当浙江大学该门本科生基础课的主讲教师,之后他还承担化学系《物理化学I》、《物理化学II》、《物理化学III》的教学任务。
彭笑刚还参与浙江大学化学系制度建设,致力于推动学科整体水平提高,2012年浙江大学化学系在《 J. Am. Chem. Soc.》《 Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 》等国际核心期刊上发表论文30余篇,较往年发表论文水平有了提高。
彭笑刚被评为2013年度浙江大学竺可桢学院最佳任课老师,并获得浙江大学理学部第四届本科教学优秀奖。
