耸棒虫目是三叶虫纲下的十个目之一，其内部的再一级划分国际上尚有争议，一种接受较广的想法是再细分为三个亚目，既Corynexochina耸棒头虫亚目Illaenina斜视虫亚目 Leiostegiina光盖虫亚目。其中尤以耸棒头虫亚目在我国分布广泛，掘头虫、节头虫、双耳虫、叉尾虫等皆为此亚目代表。
